10 DEC 2018: FMRS to participate to the AGU Fall Meeting 2018

FMRS wiil participate at the American Geophysical Union (AGU) Fall Meeting 2018 that will be held at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, Washington DC, USA. The theme of the 2018 Fall Meeting is 'This is What Science Stands For' and more than 25000 individuals are expected to attend. The AGU is a nonprofit organization of geophysicists, consisting of over 62000 members from 144 countries.

29 NOV 2018: NOFFi gets a distinction by the European network NEREUS

The National Observatory of Forest Fires (NOFFi) got a distinction by the Network of European Regions Using Space Technologies (NEREUS) for the development of the innovative burned area mapping service NOFFi-OBAM. NOFFi is a research project recently implemented by the Laboratory of Forest Management and Remote Sensing (FMRS) of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTh), funded by Greece’s Green Fund with the beneficiary being the Central Forest Service.

10 OCT 2018: FMRS participated at ForestSAT 2018

FMRS paricipated at ForestSAT 2018 - ENTERING A NEW ERA IN FOREST OBSERVATION AND ANALYSIS. The conference that was co-hosted by the University of Maryland and NASA Goddard Space Flight Center took place at College Park, Maryland, USA during the period 1-5 October 2018. The event hosted over 400 participants, 50 sessions and more than 160 posters.

03 OCT 2018: FMRS participates at the 3rd Global Wildfire Information System (GWIS) meeting

FMRS paricipated at the '3rd Global Wildfire Information System (GWIS) and Global Observation of Forest and Land Cover Dynamics (GOFC-GOLD) - Fire Mapping and Monitoring Implementation Team' Meeting. The meeting took place on the 1st and 2nd October 2018 at the University at College Park, Maryland, USA.

11 SEP 2018: FMRS participates at the 83th Thessaloniki International Fair

FMRS participates at the 83th Thessaloniki International Fair (TIF). Prof. Gitas participated at the event organised by the Alumni Association of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki titled 'Co-operation between the Aristotle University and the Greek Armed Forces in the framework of exploiting the country's scientific potential and stopping Brain Drain'. The very successful event took place on the 10th of September 2018 at the premises of TIF (Kiosk no 14).

16 JUL 2018: FMRS to co-chair NASA's MedRIN network

FMRS and the Cyprus University of Technology were selected to co-chair NASA's newly established MedRIN network.

The first meeting of the group took place in Chania on the13th and 14th of July 2018.

15 JUN 2018: The NOFFi was presented at the Technical Chamber of Greece

The National Observatory of Forest Fires was presented on a one day conference titled 'Earth Observation data and sustainable development'. The event that took place on the 15th of June 2018 at the Technical Chamber of Greece (TCG) premises in Thessaloniki was co-organised by the TCG and the InterBalkan Environment Center (i-BEC).

23 MAY 2018: FMRS is officially a member of the Hellenic Space Technologies and Applications Cluster (si-Cluster)

The Laboratory of Forest Management and Remote Sensing (FMRS) has become a member of the Hellenic si-Cluster. si-Cluster is an industrially-led and user-driven innovation cluster in Greece, which brings together private and public actors in the field of space technologies and applications.

24 APR 2018: FMRS participates at the 'Innovation in Agriculture' conference to be held in Moscow

FMRS participates at the X International Scientific and Practical Conference on Innovation in Agriculture. The event will take place in Moscow, Russia during the period 26-28 April 2018.
